Highlights from Michaelmas term

With 17 active projects in the remit of the Education IT Programme, some significant progress has been made since the Trinity term update, including:

  • Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Review: later this term, a new VLE supplier will be selected to replace WebLearn. WebLearn will continue to be supported for at least the coming two academic years (2017/18 and 2018/19). Details are on the Academic IT projects page.

  • Graduate Supervision Reporting: development in eVision is underway to replace the Graduate Supervision System (GSS) in Michaelmas term 2018. New reporting windows will be introduced at the same time as GSR is made available. Details are on the Student Systems projects page.

  • Tutorial Management System (OxCORT replacement): this project will deliver a system to replace OxCORT. Requirements are currently being identified, and it is hoped that the new system could be delivered for the 2019/20 academic year. Details are on the Student Systems projects page.

  • Research Thesis Digital Submission (RTDS): this application is a simple, safe and secure way for research students to submit a digital copy of their research thesis and additional materials for examination. A pilot with the Medical Sciences Division is approaching completion, and rollout for optional use in all other divisions is scheduled for February 2018. Details are on the Student Systems projects page.

  • Student Progression: this project is investigating how a number of processes requiring paper forms could be replaced with automated online workflows. This includes forms relating to student progression, and GSO forms. Details are on the Student Systems projects page.
